Lyra's appearance in Dragonshy has provided much of the basis for the character's portrayal. She is usually depicted as an oddball compared to other characters with an interest in humans. Numerous fan works depict her studying human culture as a scholar or attempting to prove their existence. Due to her cutie mark, she is often depicted as a musician. Several episodes like Fall Weather Friends and Swarm of the Century showed Lyra and Bon Bon in close proximity; as a result, the two are commonly paired together in fan labor, frequently in romantic relationships but sometimes as just friends. The My Little Pony dog tags depict them together on a single tag. Slice of Life , the th episode which pays tribute to the fandom, depicted Lyra and Bon Bon as best friends. The most enduring of these "fanon adoptions" is Tootsie Flute ; fan art depicting the three as a family continues to be made, as of December Another filly imagined to belong to the couple was Sweetie Belle. This fan art was inspired by the seaponies from G1.

Canterlot was known for two key aspects. The first was its royalty. Tourists would come from all over Equestria just to take pictures of the Palace or to catch a glimpse of Celestia and Luna. The second aspect was the Pub network, whose building rivaled the size of the palace and was in the dead center of town. Pub was Equestria's number one television network, specializing in children's programs licensed more often than not. The executives that dwelled inside had seen everything. They'd seen the best of the best, the worst of the worst, and everything in between. But they were not prepared for what was about to step through the doors of the meeting room. On the couch was a light green unicorn, clad in a very nice-looking business suit.
